The internet is filled with ideas for marketing tactics. Just think of the last freebie you downloaded? And how about the one before?

I bet they cover tips, tricks, and steps related to marketing your business on some level (i.e. things to put on your website, to include in your emails, ideas to increase engagement on Instagram, steps to run Facebook ads, etc.

Did I guess those right?

The BIGGEST problem we see with these how-to marketing tactics is this -- people trying out these freebies do NOT have an overall strategy in place.

This is like building a house without knowing what the house should eventually look like, what it’s for, and who it’s for. Do you see how many mistakes, potential failure, and trial and error that are involved in building this house? Without a blueprint and a plan, which is the overall strategy, the huge possibility that you’re using the wrong material, building the wrong facilities, missing a door, having 2 floors without stairs...

It’s not a mystery why businesses fail half of the time in 5 years. They do not have an overall strategy, which is the most important thing for a business. 

Most people jump right into marketing tactics, such as creating a FB page, posting on Instagram, running ads, building a website… before having the crucial foundation in place - the overall brand strategy.

We teach this in all of our coaching programs and workshops -- strategy is the NO.1 THING every business needs to have in place -- you need to know where you’re heading, your purpose, and the people you’re serving. Otherwise, all of your efforts are just aimless busy work that is wasting your precious time. 

Once a strategy is in place, you can then select the marketing tactics that align with your strategy. Instead of doing all the things, you should only be doing things that matter to the growth of your business and that add value to your people.

This mindset should be used across everything you do. From how you run Instagram, what blog content to plan for, how you’re building and serving your email list, how you create your sales funnel, what campaign to launch, what offer to create, what products to produce, how to set your price, which marketing channel to use and how… Literally everything in your business.

What marketing tactics are best to reach them? (Step back and reassess if everything you’re busy doing right now adds value to your business growth and your people)


It’s always about the people you’re serving - their wants and how they feel.
