3 Most Common #Fempreneur Self Doubts & How To Conquer Them
I had so much fun chatting with Caroline over on her podcast, Creative Expert, a few weeks ago. It was basically a condensed version of all the BEST tips I wanted to share with other women who are starting or running their businesses and doing the work they’re passionate about. If you’re interested in a fresh conversation on entrepreneurship, community and growth, check out the podcast interview.
I shared my journey in creating Olea & Fig with Terrie, and also chatted about some of the unhealthy or false mindsets many people hold onto, and our solutions to combat them! If you’re just starting out or have been on your entrepreneurial journey for a few years now, you can probably relate.
Let’s get real and talk about that tiny voice in the back of your head - The one that’s always finding excuses and telling you that “You can’t.”
Here are the 3 annoying things this voice always brings up to you, and here are all the reasons why they are wrong -
Annoying Thing #1 The Market Is Saturated, There’s No Room For You
The voice tells you that it’s too late to start, the market is saturated, and that there’s no room for you.
The fact is -- All great entrepreneurs and go-getters would tell you that they’ve heard the same thing, probably from the voice in their heads, or a friend or family, or both. Someone said that their ideas wouldn't work, and that they were too naive.
Guess what? There didn’t seem to be any room left for Uber, Airbnb, the owner of that popular coffee shop down the street or that best-selling writer. When they all started, the market seemed too saturated. But there is always room for more, and there’s always room for you!
⟹ It’s up to you to get serious, and take action to find the right spot, the positioning for your business and your work to stand out.

Annoying Thing #2 You Don’t Have What It Takes To Build A Successful Business
The voice likes to remind you that other people might make it, but not you. It tells you that you can’t make this work and that people won’t be lining up for your work.
Here’s the truth, successful businesses are fueled by the vision and mission of the people behind them, and powerful brands are the ones that connect with people emotionally. They aren’t selling another pair of shoes, another gift card, another design service, they are selling what it means to wear those shoes, send those gift cards, and how it feels to be one of their customers - they are selling a vision, emotions and desires, not products or services.
⟹ You have a vision, passion, and a great story to tell, and you are driven by a unique set of experiences, knowledge and gifts. Find the connection between you and the people you serve, and find the balance between what you’re passionate about and what people want. Sell emotions and your bigger vision, beyond products or services.

Annoying Thing #3 No One Will Come to You
The voice reminds you that you don’t know much about selling or marketing, and people aren’t just going to line up out the door for what you do. So even if you have a product or service, and even a pretty brand, customers won’t come.
Well, if you know where your people are hanging out and looking for information like yours, you’ll know exactly where to drive traffic and direct them to what you do.
⟹ All you need is figuring out who you are serving and knowing them inside out, including their demographics, behaviors, and psychographics, and meeting them where they already are.
